Trip Dates: July 11 - 14, 2019
Class II | Glamping
4 days, 3 Nights
Glacier National Park is one of the crowning jewels of the parks system. Nestled into northern Montana, this rugged but incredibly beautiful area is full of sweeping mountain vistas, turquoise alpine lakes, grassy valleys full of wildflowers, and many chances to see Rocky Mountain wildlife like elk, mountain goats, and moose. Glacier was the first national park designed to be experienced on horseback — so let’s saddle up and see this natural wonder before the quickly receding glaciers the park was named for are a thing of the past!
We'll be glamping in glamourous canvas safari tents complete with soft white linens, thick blankets and pillows, and carpeted floors.

We fly into Missoula and drive north to our cushy encampment! We’re staying in glamourous canvas safari tents complete with soft white linens, thick blankets and pillows, and carpeted floors. “Camping” just doesn’t get any better. Then we’ll head to the ranch and mount up for our first trail ride in the park, exploring Glacier the way it was intended to be seen. We’ll have dinner with our guides this first night before going back to our tent-palaces, ready to see more stars than you ever thought possible — Glacier is home to some of the darkest skies in the whole world.
We have a full, glorious day of hiking in the park ahead of us! Going at our own pace with plenty of snack and picture breaks, we’ll hike to some of the park’s famous sites, passing unsurpassed beauty on our way. You’ll see mountain streams, alpine lakes, wildflowers, and more. Hiking in Glacier is an experience of a lifetime. That evening will be a calm one, going into town for dinner, exploring, and relaxing.
Up early with another good breakfast, we head to the ranch for a day of being cowgirls in the west! In true Montana spirit, we will ride out to a beautiful mountain lake, taking in the scenery as we go, working on our trail riding skills and learning what it’s like to guide in the mountains from horseback. Once we arrive at the lake, we hitch our horses and learn the other most Montanan pastime: fly fishing. Unlike your typical dock fishing, fly fishing is an art as much as it’s a sport. Don your waders, cast your flies, and spend a relaxing but very memorable day learning to be a master angler in this pristine wilderness. We’ll ride back and have another relaxing night in Montana, unwinding from the stresses of the world and working out any sore muscles in a group stretch.
On our final day in Montana, we’ll hike to waterfalls and see more of the beauty of the park, fitting in as much active sightseeing as we can! Scientists predict that the glaciers the park was named after will be gone by 2030 — only a decade from our trip. We’ll see what we can, while we can, before we leave this awe-inspiring park (certifiable angling cowgirls!)
