Class II | Hotel Lodging
September 27 - 30, 2018

4 Days, 3 Nights
$1,150.00

Join Amber, Autumn, and AdventurHER Travel this September! We will learn to surf in Maine's gentle, beginner friendly waves by morning and tour the beautiful Maine seacoast by sea kayak in the afternoon. Mid-September is a best kept secret in Maine: the water is at its warmest, the black flies are nowhere to be found, and it's the lull between the summer crowds and the leaf-peepers. It's quaint New England paradise.

On this mother-daughter adventure, we'll learn to surf when the waves are good in the mornings, and then we'll enjoy kayaking around the islands and lighthouses lying directly off the shore in the afternoon into sunset. We'll go seal watching on a working lobster boat where we'll learn to check the traps, go whale watching, and enjoy a lobster bake at our own beach bonfire, because that's how we roll Downeast!

Every AdventurHER trip is led by a professional guide (trust us, you want someone with a lot of experience to teach you to surf) and a Dedicated Adventure Manager (our DAM girls) from AdventurHER.

Activity Level: Class II; Involves full days of physical activity, but as long as you know how to swim, no prior skills are needed!
Lodging: Hotel, prices based on double occupancy.
Included Meals: Breakfasts, lunches, and some dinners.

Itinerary

Day One

We'll arrive and check into our hotel. Work with your DAM girl to set up logistics from your preferred airport to the hotel. After settling in, we'll hop aboard a lobstering vessel for a tour of Casco bay while we learn about making a living as a lobsterman. We may see some playful harbor seals while we're out, and we'll check the traps. After docking, we head down to the beach where we'll build a bonfire and have a lobster boil as the sun sets!

Day Two

We get to know the Maine oceans a little today before getting on our surf boards. In the morning, we head out to sea for a whale watch! Keep your eyes peeled for water shooting out of blowholes and big tails arcing gracefully out of the beautiful Atlantic.

After breaking for lunch and a bit of a rest, we'll meet our next set of guides and get into our sea kayaks for a sunset paddle around Portland harbor. Keep your eyes peeled for seals, osprey, and, of course, Maine's famous lighthouses.

Day Three

With a good breakfast and an early start to the day, we meet our surf instructors and don our wet suits. We'll stretch it out and practice on shore before we jump into the water and start riding the waves! The tips we get from our instructors will get you up on your board and surfing in no time. And the best part about the ocean? The waves keep coming, so you can keep practicing your pop.

After lunch, we'll try our hand (and test our balance) at a private yoga class on stand-up paddle boards. After all the surfing and kayaking, it'll feel really good to stretch out - and we're not going to lie, we really like ending the class in a floating savasana.

That night, we'll go into Portland to explore this beautiful New England port city.

Day Four

After a big breakfast, we hit the waves for more surfing! We'll learn more tricks and techniques as we practice the skills we learned yesterday. Then we head back to the airport with new surf skills, exciting photos, and great stories. And best yet, you'll probably catch a snooze on the plane!
