We get an early start with breakfast on the way! Leaving Denver at 7 AM, we drive up to Fort Collins to start our trip off with a thrill ride: a half-day white water excursion on the Poudre River. We’ll navigate class II & III rapids, invigorated by the crystal clear water. It’s a great way for visitors to the Rocky Mountain state to acclimate while still getting plenty of action. Then we’ll get lunch in Fort Collins and drive over to Estes Park. After unloading & settling into our accommodations, we’ll go for a short but scenic hike as an introduction to the Estes Park area. A group dinner will cap off our night, after which you’re welcome to hit the hay early or stay out and explore Estes.
An introduction to rock climbing! We meet our rock climbing guides and gear up for a morning of learning the ropes at local crags in Rocky Mountain National Park. Perfect for those with little or no climbing experience, we’ll learn safety practices and spend plenty of time on the rock. Afraid of heights? That's ok! We'll cheer you on and celebrate your climb, no matter how far off the ground you get. Harder routes are available for any AdventurHERS with previous climbing experience. Then we’ll have lunch and rest a beat before we hop onto two wheels and take a bike n’ beer tour of town! With Colorado arguably being the craft beer capital of the US, we can’t end a day rock climbing in RMNP and not celebrate with a brew or two.
This morning, we head over to the beautiful Grand Lake. We’ll jump into our kayaks, paddling down Grand Lake and into Shadow Mountain Lake. We’ll likely see fishing ospreys, playful otters, and other local fauna on our peaceful paddle. Then we’ll hike up to the top of Shadow Mountain, a moderate 8-mile hike. At the top, we’ll have beautiful views of the lakes to one side and the mountains to the other. After hiking down, we’ll have dinner before heading to Hot Sulphur Springs for a long and well-deserved mineral soak in the lovely, warm water. After all the activity of the last 3 days, it can’t be beat!
Another early start, we meet our new adventure companions: horses! Our 6 hour ride climbs to an elevation of around 10,000 feet to the summit of Deer Mountain providing a spectacular, breathtaking panoramic view of the Continental Divide and the Estes valley. We enjoy lunch on the trail and get one last look at the overwhelming beauty of the Rockies, and then drive back to Denver, having enjoyed a fun, action packed weekend of rafting, hiking, rock climbing, biking, kayaking, and horseback riding!
